End of week fourteen summary.

Week fourteen is gone now and my kids are looking forward to two weeks autumn holidays starting Monday. Unbelievable how quickly the time passed by between the end of the summer and the begin of the autumn holidays this year.

This week I did apply for four new jobs and did not make it to the next round for two other jobs, I did apply for some weeks ago. For one NO I did just get the standard email information for the other one the HR representative did give me a call. Not a common way and very much appreciated by me, as it gives the chance for some questions, to better understand the background of the decision. Maybe it was also related to the case that we had a job interview together before?

Anyway this time the driver was a combination of a salary gap - the minimum salary I was looking for and the maximum salary the company was willing to pay for the job did not really match up - and an organizational issue. It sounded like my experience level was too high for their understanding of the role and how it was positioned in their hierarchy.

Besides that I did go to another recruiting day. Once again a professional setup with a lot of interesting companies and some good presentations and talks during the day. I had some good discussion that will possibly lead to more in the coming weeks, we will see? And there was one really interesting talk about the "power of words" and what kind of words you should be using to make a positive impression.

We are all the result of our education (by our parents, the school, our social environment, etc.) and should be very much aware of the guiding principles we heard for several years again and again!! The lady giving the talk did use kinesiology (Dictionary.com: The science dealing with the interrelationship of the physiological processes and anatomy of the human body with respect to movement --> body and mind need to be in right balance) to bring her message across. A positive mind using positive words makes you strong and the other way round.
