Summary of week thirty one.
This week was not as busy as the last one and I did only apply for two new jobs. Both in the leadership development area. More HR than IT or Engineering, but with 18 years in leadership positions I can bring a lot of expertise and experience to the table and an outside-in view could be interesting as well, thinking about it out-of-the-box? I have not been shortlisted for four older positions. In the meantime the average time to get either a NO or being added to a headhunter candidate pool has been increased from 23 to 26 days.
The position that I mentioned last Sunday with the outstanding decision is still in an undefined state, as far as I am aware of. No feedback from the HR department or the CIO yet, but the same job has been posted again last week with two different HR contacts. I have no idea, what this will mean for me, but I hope to get some more clarity next week.
I did proceed with my Python programming course on Udacity, still great, a lot of fun and I am making good progress. Besides that I have been contacted by two new headhunters, who seem to have some interesting positions in their portfolio for me and participated in the business founder seminar yesterday.
The seminar was really great with a lot of different people and characters, who are planning to start their own business --> some examples: an online shop for regional products, a night club, personal training, a mobile tire fitting and changing offer, taking over an existing book store, building a new app for the Apple appstore, etc. All great people, who are looking for a change and are willing to take on a lot of risk. We covered topics like required skills and mindset for founders, what are the legal, financial and tax rules and prerequisites, to be successful?
For me personally I decided in the meantime, not to take the self-employed position as headhunter on a fulltime basis, but to start small and rethink the content of my business idea for some more weeks. Maybe a "smart" combination of the programming learning, my daily experience with the job seeking process and my blogging activities could be one idea? It definitely needs some more fine tuning.
Next week I will have a phone interview with the IT Director of the position outside of Germany, to get some more insights about the role and what they are looking for. Besides that I have registered myself for a webinar about the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) Certification Launch. Looking forward to it.
