ONE plus ONE might be much more than TWO?
Some of you might remember my story about the #IGNITION initiative of the Duesseldorf classic orchestra (https://www.tonhalle.de/reihen/reihe/Junge-Tonhalle1/ sorry only in German)? In order to find new "customers", especially younger age, they did kick off a series of events, bringing Classic orchestra music together with Youtube stars. So far my daughters did participate in two events and yesterday evening my wife and I had the opportunity to join them for the 1st time. It was a really great late afternoon event, with a lot to learn, hear and see.
The title Youtube stars might be misleading, as the kids make clear differences between somebody with 2 million followers and somebody else with just 500 thousand. The guys on the left are in the 500k range, but could motivate a large crowd of kids from the age of maybe 2 up to 18. Besides that a lot of parents and grandparents accompanying their children or grandchildren.
Main focus of the event was around the book The Little Prince (https://www.thelittleprince.com/) written by ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRY. The orchestra did play nicely selected classical music pieces and the three Youtube stars did read out parts of the book or did comment the content in an understandable language for the young audience. All together they could make three groups happy - the classic music lovers, literature enthusiasts and not to forget all the fans of the three young guys. If you are interested in the kind of music that had been played, one piece is used as background music in the Walt Disney Cartoon Movie - Fantasia 1940 - The Sorcerer's Apprentice, see and hear at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DX2yVucz24 , ENJOY 👍🙂.
#IGNITION is not the first time to combine classical music with something completely different, or maybe a not obvious area, the Disney TV series - Little Einsteins did take a similar approach (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl9c_TFVeJk) to get small kids into contact with classical music and to initiate an interest for the future. From my own kids experience I can confirm, this model works pretty well. Directly after each series the questions did start about the composer and more music from the guy.
If you transfer this model to the industry/business level you can end up with a similar result. The combination of two areas, that are obviously not a perfect match, can be much more than TWO in the end. Just one example --> Dubai's new flying taxi https://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/02/17/this-is-dubais-new-flying-taxi.html
This brings us back to innovation and idea fitness. Take any available ingredient, put them together, mix them, taste them. Start all over again, if the result is not new, surprising or tasty.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye. Antoine de Saint-Exupery, French - Novelist June 29, 1900 - July 31, 1944
