Intelligent storage?

You possibly know the saying - "Anybody who is tidy is just too lazy to search?" Years back in the paper only world this definitely made a lot of sense and the best filing system did win. But today in 2018 in the digital world there are a lot of other capabilities available.

Out of habit many people are still using complex folder structures to store their data and to find it back easily (e.g. files or emails). The lazy (some might say the smart) community is just making use of intelligent search commands, to find anything they are looking for. Both sides will say their approach is faster and with less effort 🙂.

A lot of companies are using document management systems for the same purpose. An intelligent search should find everything, if you know or assume the right key words. In my new company I was doing this yesterday looking for help to solve a small IT issue. Unfortunately I could not find the solution I was looking for after several minutes and key words. In the end I had to call the helpdesk, as my assumed key words did not match the ones used in my company 😉.

As we have summer holiday period here some links for readers, who are looking for a book recommendation:
