The week nineteen (S1) highlights ...
After several Christmas parties this week I finally have two weeks holiday. Next day in the office will be 07-Jan-2019.
Today we decorated the christmas tree and did go out for a Christmas sing a long event in the Duesseldorf soccer stadium https://www.merkur-spiel-arena.de/en/#home. Besides the audience of 30,000 people there had been three top acts:
- Patricia Kelly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydbHtZj_URY
- Brings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd5IfP8Auys
- Paul Potts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA
Really great singing acts, but the audience should have been more in the focus for the sing a long. Besides that the moderators did talk too much and the music was too loud. Also the subtitles for the song texts on the center screen did not really work. Will be difficult to attract the same number of people next year, when the event is scheduled to happen on 15-Dec-19.
We did check the Facebook group of the event later on and the common feedback did pretty much match our opinion and feelings. The real and surprising highlight did happen on the way home. The people did start to sing Christmas songs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFZqDcFU4Ow) in the queue waiting for the public transport underground. The singing did proceed in the train and even the driver did participate and motivated the people for even more songs.
In the end it really became a great event and the people were highly motivated to sing together, without any orchestra or super star. Hopefully the feedback of the audience will be open, honest, motivating and heard by the organizationteam, to get the necessary improvements in place until next year.
Wish you all a Merry Christmas.
