Today at 11.11 AM local Germany time was the official start of the outdoor carnival season for 2019. It will go on until next week Tuesday. The day today is called "Weiberfastnacht" - the women's carnival day - the day during the carnival period when women assume control (https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/german-english/weiberfastnacht).
As very often the reality is much more fun than any comedy or made up story, I just wanted to know a translation of the word Weiberfastnacht for my BLOG post today. As Google translate is pretty good in the meantime, it is normally my 1st choice . The Google translation: Weiberfastnacht = "weiber almost eight". Weiber is a kind of slang word so I understand that there is no equivalent, fast = almost (correct) and the remaining word nacht should be night, but the split was at acht = eight. Just funny, but perfect for the day today , maybe a special edition translation for the carnival season? I have to check again in 2 weeks from now.
For more fun, have a look at the following product, called the "Useless Box". You can buy it at Amazon for $14.99 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqAUmgE3WyM
I even found a "Useless Box 2.0" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apVR5Htz0K4, more fun and better functionality .
