Two basic skills for every communication, as well as great leaders are the Art of Listening and the Art of Asking questions. Sounds simple, but it is more difficult than you think. Just try to be objective and compare the time you speak to the time you listen in an average communication. Same with asking questions - how often is your question bringing a communication forward and how often is it blocking it? Some more details below:
