“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” -- Anne Lamott, https://ww w.nytimes.com/2018/10/27/books/anne-lamott-leftie-guru-of-optimism.html
So taking a small break can really be helpful, to restart a thinking process, change your perspective, relax, unplug/replug, learn something new, refresh a memory or just have some time for yourself. In my department we are currently taking an "official" break for one hour every two weeks, offering some interesting content or doing some off topic activities. I did write about my USP (Unique Selling Point) workshop in my BLOG on 14- and 16-Jan-20.
One hour in two weeks is a good starting point and already a difficult sell to some colleagues, but far away from Google's 20 percent rule:

Take the perspective of a journalist or scientist. Really study what's around you. What are people wearing, what do the interiors of buildings look like, what noises do you hear? If you bring your analytical powers to bear, you can make almost anything interesting. -- Gretchen Rubin, American - Author, https://gretchenrubin.com/about/biography/
