"Barbie’s New International Women’s Day Global Campaign Aims to Inspire the Next Generation of Female Leaders". After many, many years of criticism about Mattel's image of women being represented by the Barbie doll, this has been positively changed in the meantime. Their International Women’s Day Global Campaign is only one of several examples, to motivate little girls to follow their dreams and passion.

Tijen Onaran, who has been selected as the German Barbie Role Model 2022 (2nd from the right), is CEO & Founder GDW Global Digital Women (she Talks about #equality, #diversity, #inclusion, #unternehmertum, and #venturecapital). She is also in the EXPERT CIRCLE of ACI Diversity Consulting.

Diversity does not mean one; diversity means many! And that’s exactly what we need more of — more diversity at all levels and in all areas. Those who stand up for diversity stand up for the future!” -- Tijen Onaran

I have seen Tijen in a talk show yesterday evening and she was using an interesting word describing her Turkish family background. Instead of saying migration background, what is the most common word used to describe these kind of family histories in Germany, she used migration foreground - no need to hide, what is obvious, well known and what you are proud of. The power of words should never be underestimated. Some examples:

  • Just heard that Putin calls the international sanctions against Russia a declaration of war. But when journalists call the Russian invasion of Ukraine a war, they face long prison sentences. 🤔
